ATLANTA – May
19, 2004 – LXE
Inc., a leading manufacturer
of rugged wireless computing
solutions that improve
the performance of supply-chain
execution applications,
and an EPCglobal member,
today announced the
introduction of the
pioneering, “RFID
enabled” handheld
computer - the MX3-RFID.
The innovative MX3-RFID
is based on LXE’s
highly successful, and
seasoned, Windows®
CE-based horizontal
half-screen wireless
computer, the MX3-CE.
The
versatile unit is equipped
with radio (802.11b)
communications capabilities
and is capable of reading
both barcodes and RFID
tags. It gives customers
the flexibility to use
one unit for a broad
range of data collection
applications. With the
MX3-RFID, support and
training costs are also
minimized, because IT
only has to support
one computer model,
and warehouse operators
only have to learn one
device.
The unit includes an
EPC-compliant, class
0 (read only) and class
1 (write once, read
many) tag reader that
is fully protected in
a very low-profile enclosure
in the rear of the unit.
“The
handheld RFID prototypes
we’ve seen to
date wouldn’t
last long in a typical
warehouse or distribution
center," says Peter
Fausel, Senior VP of
Sales and Marketing.
“The MX3-RFID,
like all of LXE’s
wireless computers,
has been designed to
thrive in these demanding
environments.”
The MX3-RFID will be
on display at DC Expo,
May 19-20, in Chicago
in LXE’s booth
#1379.
As
always, the MX3-RFID
is supported by LXE’s
award-winning Customer
Support team, winners
of the Mobile Star Award™
for best customer satisfaction
in mobile hardware for
the second consecutive
year.
